Horizontal Gradients to Total Field (GRAD2TMI)

grad2tmi.gx calculates a total magnetic field grid from two horizontal gradient Hx and Hy grids

Derived from Nelson (1994), there are two advantages for applying this GX to measured horizontal gradient data:

  • Highlight anomalies (e.g. kimberlites) with high gradients
  • Eliminate the need to collect tie lines thus reducing survey costs
